About Khürt Williams

Somewhere in the woods, streams and streets of Montgomery Township, Rocky Hill and Princeton Township, there is a Caribbean-American man walking around with a camera. Or maybe he’s at home sipping a brew from a nearby craft ale brewery.

perltoot – Linux Command – Unix Command

A much better article than mine.

Object-oriented programming is a big seller these days. Some managers would rather have objects than sliced bread. Why is that? What’s so special about an object? Just what is an object anyway?perltoot – Linux Command – Unix Command

MailTo Syntax

I had a need to include a body with a message from a mailto. I found this reference useful.

redhat.com | LAMP Web development

redhat.com | LAMP Web developmentRed Hat article promoting LAMP development. The “P” in LAMP is one of either Perl, PHP, or Python. I cut my teeth on web development with Perl 5 back in 1997 and stuck with Perl for most of my consulting career after that. I tried to switch to Python but decided that I did not like Python reliance on white space. I did some small PHP projects back in 2002 but forgot about it until quite recently. I am finding more and more reasons to use and PHP has become more popular than Active Server Pages (ASP) for web development.

Microsoft Domain Services

Apparently Microsoft is now offering domain services. Over at Windows Live Custom Domains I was able to setup email services (MX record) for each of my registered domains. The services generates a unique hotmail mail server subdomain for each domain. I edited my domain services MX record to point to the hotmail mail server and created a new mail user. Voila, I can now login to hotmail with userid@mydomain.com and send/received email. I wonder where Microsoft is going with this?

I bought a mac mini. I like it a lot. I think Apple has a beautiful litle machine. I love the sleek white lines.

ATI Radeon 9200
32MB DDR video memory

Built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth
Optional 56k Internal Modem
one FireWire 400 port

Since it came with no keyboard I bought an Apple USB keyboard. I read a review of the wireless keyboard that was less than glowing. I might buy the wireless SuperMouse in a few months.
